How do we calculate CO2 emissions that are avoided or offset?

We take concrete action to help the planet by reducing and offsetting the CO2 emissions generated by the journeys made by all the vehicles using our platform.

We offset the CO2 emissions generated by your journeys through a voluntary offsetting programme with our partner, the GoodPlanet Foundation. Offset emissions are calculated as follows:

         - 41 g per km for electric vehicles

         - 203 g per km for hybrid vehicles

         - 261 g per km for internal combustion Berline vehicles

         - 353 g per km for vans

In order to indicate the number of kg of CO2 that has been avoided of offset thanks to your journeys, we take into account all the kilometres you have travelled with Marcel and multiply this figure by the average emissions of internal combustion vehicles, i.e. 261 g/km.

The number of kg of CO2 thus indicates both the emissions that have been avoided thanks to your journeys in electric vehicles and the emissions that we offset during your journeys with all other types of vehicles.
